ENUGU, Nigeria (VOICE OF NAIJA)- The Enugu State Government has reaffirmed its commitment to supporting the Nigeria Police Force (NPF) in its mission to ensure the safety and security of citizens in the state.
Through the Ministry of Justice, the government has pledged to provide robust support to the police in prosecuting criminals, dispensing justice, and protecting the rights of citizens.
The Hon. Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice, Dr. Kingsley Tochi Udeh, made this statement during a meeting with the Enugu State Commissioner of Police, CP Kanayo Uzuegbu, at the Ministry of Justice Headquarters, 3 Arms Zone, Enugu.
Udeh assured the Police Commissioner that the Ministry will facilitate the NPF’s execution of its constitutional duties without hindrance, in line with Governor Mbah’s vision of making the State the number one destination for living, business and tourism.

He emphasized the state government’s expectation of the Police to help in transforming Enugu into a crime-free and attractive investment hub in Nigeria, towards actualizing the goal of growing the state’s economy from a GDP of.4.4 billion Dollars to 30 billion Dollars within this administration.
Udeh also stressed the Ministry’s commitment to collaborating closely with the police in sharing information and providing legal services towards preventing and fighting crime.
In addition, he noted that the state has robustly continued its efforts in criminal justice reforms, including the amendment of the Administration of Criminal Justice Law, the Criminal Code Law, and the Magistrates Courts Law, among others.
He disclosed that the Governor is set to inaugurate the Committee on Prerogative of Mercy to painstaking review and recommend cases for the Governor’s discretionary exercise of prerogative of mercy, as the Governor is keen on prison decongestion and correctional services reform.
He further urged the police to respect the rights of citizens and avoid any form of abuse.
In response, the Commissioner of Police expressed the NPF commitment to partnering with the Ministry to enhance the protection of life and property in Enugu State.
CP Uzuegbu further assured that the Police is working diligently to ensure that residents enjoy peace and security.
He commended Peter Ndubuisi Mbah for his vision, support, and encouragement to security agencies in the state.
The CP assured of his team’s total commitment towards a crime-free Enugu State.
