LAGOS, Nigeria (VOICE OF NAIJA)- A female student of the Ebonyi State University, Favour Ugwuka, has reportedly committed suicide in her hostel, at Ishieke, Ebonyi Local Government Area of the state.
In a video, a woman was seen lamenting the death of the student who, she claimed, was her daughter and blamed a lecturer in the university for her sudden death.
“Dr Enyi said he is the best, nobody can teach like him. He should come and carry my daughter who has committed suicide,” the woman said.
In a voice note attached to the video, the deceased said she’d been treated so because she’s not an indigene of Ebonyi State and has no connection.

According to her, she had never received any references from her first year until her final year. Her only reference was from that of this particular lecturer.
Favour further disclosed that she paid N130,000 Naira for an extra year, and the same lecturer failed her again.
The deceased burst into tears, saying that she will leave the certificate for them.
A graduate of the same institution, identified as Rex Nwome, claimed that the girl committed suicide because she had been failing a particular course repeatedly.
“Favour was my classmate and a best friend to me in English Department. A lecturer vowed never to allow Favour to graduate; you could imagine where she later passed all the courses except that lecturer who she paid another extra year tuition fee to rewrite, unfortunately, the man failed her again.
“What resulted to this intense depression is the latest NYSC names that was recently shortlisted and her name wasn’t there. The girl really suffered a lot of depression because she was only left wandering about the EBSU, seeking help. She was very desperate to graduate and serve. This and many more of the disgusting stories resulted to this mission. I wish she didn’t go this far to end her life. R. I. P Ugwuka Favour, till we meet to part no more,” he said.
The state Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Joshua Ukandu, confirmed the incident.
He said that there was no details on the tragedy.
