IBADAN, Nigeria (VOICE OF NAIJA) – The recent development on Price of Petroleum Motor Spirit (PMS), otherwise known as petrol or fuel, increasing to about N617 per litre across fueling stations, has sparked outrage on social media.
Voiceofnaija.ng earlier reported that Daily Trust correspondent paid a visit to an NNPC filling station in the Central area of Abuja to check the latest development.
The media outlet confirmed that the fuel price has now been adjusted from N539 to N617 per litre.
Confirming the latest development, a customer who just got the fuel said: “It is true; I just bought at N617 per litre.”

The reason for this increase may not be unconnected to the recent projections by oil marketers that fuel prices will hit N700 per litre soon, but this hasn’t been confirmed yet.
The report has since generated mixed reaction on social media platforms with some netizens dragging Tinubu’s supporters.
A tweep @IU_Wakilii said: “PMS now sells at N617 per liter at NNPC Filling Stations.
“We’ve not heard anything about minimum wage yet but I’m still placing my trust on the President.
“After 100 days in office Nigerians should start asking questions.”
Another tweep, Babatunde Beacon reacted to @IU-Wakilii and said: “He’s doing well, no need for minimum wage, Nigeria cannot afford it.
“We need to sacrifice now for future gains. Even America as rich as they are don’t subsidise and pump price in Nigeria is still lower than all other countries.
“May this pump price increment favor me and my family.”
