LAGOS, Nigeria (VOICE OF NAIJA) – A 38-year-old woman, Mohammed Abu, has been arraigned before the Ogba Magistrates’ Court sitting in Ikeja area of Lagos State, for allegedly abducting two children, Juliana and Joy Jude, in Alakuko area of the State.
Abu, who was arraigned on 27 April before Magistrate E. Kubenje, faces one-count of abduction for allegedly luring the two children to her house in the New Abule area of Ogun State.
The Police prosecutor, SP Kehinde Ajayi, told the court that the defendant committed the offence on 21 April, 2023.
The charge reads: “That you, Muhammed Abu, on 21 April, 2023, around 10pm at No. 9, Alhaji Afolabi Street, Ajegunle, Alakuko, Lagos State, in the Ikeja Magisterial District, did adopt the children of one Madam Jude, to your house at New Abule area of Ogun State, and thereby committed an offence punishable under Section 277 (1a and b) of the Criminal Laws of Lagos State of Nigeria, 2015.”
The magistrate granted the defendant bail in the sum of N100,000 and ordered the defendant’s remand pending perfection of bail term.
The case was adjourned till 30 May, 2023.
