The founder and senior pastor of Christ Mercyland Deliverance Ministry, in Warri, Delta State, Prophet Jeremiah Fufeyin, has reacted after his church was razed by fire on Tuesday, 21 March, 2023.
The cleric who confirmed the development in a video clip on his official Facebook page on Tuesday, said no life was lost during the incident.
He stated further that the incident was orchestrated by God who earlier gave him an instruction to build a church auditorium.
According to him, God’s anger over his disobedience to the instruction may have led to the inferno that destroyed several properties in the church.
“If I was not expecting this incident before, I would have asked God questions. God told me this thing is coming.
“The Lord had told me, Go and build my house. Where you are using currently is not a church house, it is just a partner house.
The prophet said his lackadaisical attitude towards the instructions angered God to destroy the auditorium, stating that he is now ready to build the church.
The explosion that rocked the Partners auditorium in Mercy city, triggered a major inferno in the building.
A top staff of the church who spoke to the Vanguard said the fire started suddenly, adding that the first person who saw it said he heard a major explosion and what followed next was a huge ball of fire.
Some staff of the Mercy city who spoke to the Vanguard on condition of anonymity said the fire started at about 11 am in the morning and was extinguished by fire fighters.
”We heard something like dynamite exploded in the hall causing the fire,” they said.
At the scene of the incident there were chairs, air conditioners destroyed by the fire.
The fire burnt a large part of the roof of the auditorium and virtually everything of value in the hall.
The members who spoke, expressed gratitude to God that the incident occurred at a time church service was not on.
“It would have been disastrous if church service was on. We thank God no life was lost,” another member said.
The fire only wrecked havoc inside the hall. No vehicle outside was torched.
