LAGOS, Nigeria (VOICE OF NAIJA) – Several people are feared dead following an explosion from a crude oil tapping point in Rumuekpe commumity in Emuoha Local Government Area of Rivers State.
The incident reportedly occurred in the early hours of today when one of the buses carrying crude caught fire as it tried to find a nearby illicit processing facility.
Environmentalist Fyneface Dumnamene, Executive Director of the Youths and Environmental Advocacy Center, confirmed the occurrence claiming that its “Crude oil spill alert response system” had informed it of the disaster.
The Punch reports that the Spokesperson of the State Police Command, Grace Iringe-Koko confirmed the incident saying: “The Divisional Police Officer is already on his was to the scene.”
