ENUGU, Nigeria (VOICE OF NAIJA)- Nsukka, the host town of University of Nigeria, (UNN), was turned into turmoil as a yet to be identified undergraduate of the institution was arrested over alleged child trafficking.
According to Within Nigeria, the suspect was said to have stolen the little boy along Obukpa axis, one of the host communities of the institution.
Narrating the ugly incident, a source told Within Nigeria that”the student was captured by some irate youths in the community while trying to smuggle out the small boy.
“When he was questioned on his relationship with the small boy, the suspect couldn’t defend himself, so they decided to descend on him and give him the beatings of his life.
“The youths decided to parade him around the host community to show them that they have such character living with them. When they wanted to set him ablaze, some youths resisted and said no. They did not want such treatment on him.”
It was gathered, also, that the suspect was later handed over to security agents for further investigation and possible prosecution.
The Students Union Government, SUG president, Mr. Abuchi Michael could not pick his calls at the time of filing this report.
Also, all efforts to get the reaction of the Public Relations Officer of the institution, Chief Okwun Umeaku, proved abortive as he couldn’t pick his calls.
