LAGOS, Nigeria (VOICE OF NAIJA) – Two people have reportedly died and several injured after a free-for-all fight broke out on Wednesday at the Iyana Iba axis of Lagos between members of the Road Transport Employers Association of Nigeria (RTEAN).
The fracas started on Wednesday afternoon at the under-bridge area at Iyana Iba, along Lagos-Badagry expressway in Ojo LGA.
According to reports, the fracas was between two factions of the RTEAN over leadership of the park.
The incident sparked apprehension in the area as commuters scampered for safety, while the road was said to have been blocked at the time.
Videos showing parts of the fracas have appeared on social media.
In one of the videos shared online, some persons are seen throwing bottles, stones, tyres and other objects at each other in the area.
Confirming the incident, Benjamin Hundeyin, Lagos police spokesperson, said the fracas was between two factions of the road transport workers.
“Two factions of road transport workers are the ones fighting,ā Hundeyin said.
He, however, also said there is no confirmation on the status of casualties, adding that calm has now been restored to the area.
