ENUGU, Nigeria (VOICE OF NAIJA)- Nigeria’s Ambassador-designate to Mexico, Reno Omokri, has identified the growing number of children out of school as the country’s most pressing challenge, saying the problem deserves greater attention than insecurity.

Omokri made the assessment during an interview on Channels Television’s Sunday Politics, where he discussed some of the major challenges confronting Nigeria.

According to him, keeping children out of school poses a serious threat to the country’s future and should be treated as a priority by policymakers.

He, however, acknowledged efforts by the administration of President Bola Tinubu to address the education crisis, saying the government was working to improve the situation.

His comments come amid continuing concerns over Nigeria’s large population of children who are not receiving formal education, with insecurity also remaining a major issue across several parts of the country.

Omokri’s position places education at the centre of the national development debate, suggesting that tackling the out-of-school crisis should be given greater prominence alongside other security and economic challenges.
