ENUGU, Nigeria (VOICE OF NAIJA)- Former Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, Chibudom Nwuche, has thrown his weight behind the Rainbow Coalition associated with the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, saying the alliance will give President Bola Tinubu a broader political base ahead of the 2027 presidential election.
Nwuche, who is also Chairman of the South-South Development Commission, said this on Monday in Abuja while commending Wike for what he described as courage, political sagacity and outstanding performance.
According to him, one of the major strengths of the coalition is that it allows politicians and groups sympathetic to Tinubu’s re-election to work for his victory without formally abandoning their existing political parties.
He therefore dismissed suggestions that the coalition could weaken the President’s chances, arguing that expanding the number of political constituencies backing Tinubu would work in his favour.

“Every additional constituency, political stakeholder, or community that identifies with the President’s interest strengthens, rather than weakens, his electoral prospects,” he said.
Nwuche described the coalition as a “political masterstroke”, saying it had created an avenue for cross-party political engagement ahead of the 2027 polls.
“The Rainbow Coalition is a political masterstroke. It has created leeway and an important political opening that allows individuals and groups who may belong to opposition parties to support the President’s re-election without necessarily having to abandon their political parties,” he said.
He also addressed reports of disagreements over the coalition’s political direction in Rivers State, insisting that there was no uncertainty concerning its consensus governorship candidate.
“There is no confusion or uncertainty whatsoever over the choice of the coalition’s consensus governorship candidate in Rivers State,” he said.

Nwuche said the coalition would mobilise voters in Rivers State for Tinubu, its governorship candidate and candidates seeking election into the National and State Assemblies.
“We will be working assiduously to ensure that the good people of Rivers State vote massively for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and the coalition’s governorship candidate, as well as the National and State Assembly candidates,” he said.
He added that similar mobilisation efforts would be undertaken in other states, describing the strategy as a significant advantage for Tinubu going into the 2027 contest.
The former lawmaker particularly appealed to APC members who are opposed to Wike’s coalition to redirect their energy from attacking the FCT minister towards building stronger party structures at the grassroots.
He urged them to concentrate on securing their polling units, wards and local government areas for the President.

Beyond party politics, Nwuche called on Nigerians to support Tinubu without allowing political, ethnic or religious considerations to determine their position, arguing that sustained backing would enable the administration to continue with its reforms.
Although he acknowledged the hardship associated with the reforms, he expressed confidence that Nigerians would begin to see more benefits from the policies.
“President Bola Ahmed Tinubu remains the best choice for the future prosperity of Nigeria. The reforms may have brought pain, but the country will soon begin to experience more tangible benefits,” he said.
According to Vanguard, Nwuche also warned voters against what he termed “bogus promises and economic hallucinations” from some presidential aspirants, insisting that Nigeria should not abandon reforms simply because they have been difficult.
“What Nigeria needs now is not a return to the past, but the courage to complete the journey towards a stronger, more productive and prosperous nation,” he said.
