LAGOS, Nigeria(VOICE OF NAIJA)- Actor Daniel Etim Effiong has questioned those who criticize his kissing scenes in movies, saying the intentions behind a person’s actions matter more than what people see on the surface.
The actor argued that what actors portray on screen should not be used to judge their character or morality because they sometimes have to perform roles as part of their profession.
Speaking in a recent interview, Effiong explained that performing such scenes does not automatically make the act good or evil.
The actor pushed back against those who question his decision to participate in intimate scenes, asking whether they would apply the same standard to professionals whose jobs require them to deal with sensitive situations.
“Would you ask this same question to a gynaecologist?” he asked.

Effiong went on to explain that a gynaecologist is a medical doctor who works closely with women and examines female genitals as part of providing medical care.
He used the comparison to argue that the nature of an action alone should not determine how a person is judged.
The actor further grounded his argument in his understanding of the Bible, stressing that a person’s intentions and inner character matter more than what may be seen externally.
“There’s a condition of a man’s heart that judges what he does,” Effiong quoted.
According to Effiong, that inner condition determines whether an action should be considered good or evil.
“It’s not what you see from the outside; it’s what the man is, the condition of his heart,” he added.
