LAGOS, Nigeria(VOICE OF NAIJA)- Citizens of Mauritius and Seychelles can travel to the United Kingdom using an Electronic Travel Authorisation (ETA) for eligible short visits, instead of applying for a visitor visa.
The two African countries are included in the UK government’s Appendix ETA National List, which identifies nationalities that must obtain an ETA before travelling to the UK.
The guidance states that citizens from the aforementioned countries can visit provided they meet the relevant entry requirements.
An ETA is a digital travel permission for eligible visitors. It allows its holders to travel to the UK without getting a visa for certain permitted short stays.
The first eligible country is Mauritius. Mauritian passport holders are eligible to use the UK ETA system for qualifying visits.

Travellers from Mauritius must obtain an ETA before travelling and must still meet the conditions attached to their intended visit.
The second is the island country of Seychelles. Seychellois citizens that are eligible to travel must secure an ETA before travelling to the UK for visits covered by the scheme.
However, having an ETA does not automatically guarantee entry into the UK.
Travellers must still satisfy UK border and immigration requirements when they arrive.
The ETA also does not replace a visa where a visa is required for the purpose or circumstances of the trip.
The UK government’s current list confirms that Mauritius and Seychelles remain among the African nationalities eligible for the ETA route, while Botswana was removed from the list in October 2025.
