LAGOS, Nigeria(VOICE OF NAIJA)- Nigerian music star Adekunle Gold has questioned the state of democracy in Nigeria, saying the country is not operating as a true democratic society.
The singer shared his views during a recent episode of the One54 Podcast, where he also discussed his colleague Davido’s decision to appeal to United States President Donald Trump over the recently held Osun State governorship election.
Adekunle Gold suggested that Davido’s message to Trump was influenced by concerns about Nigeria’s democratic system.
“I think Davido sent that message to Donald Trump because we are not truly practising democracy in Nigeria,” he said.

The “Coco Money” crooner argued that the country was falling short of the standards expected in a democratic society.
“We are not doing what a democratic society should do,” he added.
Adekunle Gold still expressed hope that the administration of President Bola Tinubu would improve the country’s approach to governance.
He said he wanted the current government to perform better than its predecessor, particularly in promoting good governance and respecting democratic principles.
“I just hope this administration does better than the previous one,” the singer said.
