LAGOS, Nigeria(VOICE OF NAIJA)- NFL star Aaron Rodgers has made fresh claims about his failed engagement to actress Shailene Woodley, saying she accepted his marriage proposal before telling him days later that she wanted to be with another man.
Rodgers made the revelation during an appearance on Cam Heyward’s Not Just Football podcast while reflecting on his relationship with the actress and the events that led to their split.
According to the quarterback, Woodley initially said yes when he proposed but later changed her mind about the relationship.
“I dated Shailene, I proposed and she said yes,” Rodgers said.
He acknowledged that Woodley could have rejected the proposal but suggested she may have felt pressured to make a decision at the time.
Rodgers then claimed that only a few days after accepting the proposal, Woodley told him she wanted to have sex with someone else.
“She told me, before we got married, like, ‘I got to go fuck this guy,’” he claimed.
Rodgers added that Woodley removed her engagement ring by March.
He also claimed that the pair made several attempts to repair their relationship after the engagement began to fall apart.

The NFL star further rejected claims that he was responsible for Woodley experiencing depression after their breakup.
“Her story is, I ruined her life and gave her crazy depression because I left her,” Rodgers stated.
He insisted that the timeline was different from the version he believed had been presented publicly.
The NFL star stressed that Woodley had already told him she wanted to be with another person and had removed the ring before their relationship ended.
Rodgers explained that he decided to speak about the failed relationship because he believed several public accounts of their split were misleading.
“There’s just a lot of narratives out there that are just not true,” he said, arguing that some versions of the story had been shaped because people could “get away with it.”

The quarterback also made a pointed comment about his past relationships while discussing his former girlfriends.
“The height of their fame was when they were with me,” he noted.
Woodley has previously spoken about her relationship with Rodgers, describing it as “not right” but also “beautiful.”
She has also discussed dealing with depression and anxiety following a traumatic period, although she did not publicly provide details linking those experiences to specific events in their relationship.
Rodgers and Woodley began dating in 2020 and announced their engagement in 2021, but their relationship eventually ended before they married.
