ENUGU, Nigeria (VOICE OF NAIJA)- A chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), in Ekiti State and former governorship candidate, Dr Oluwole Oluyede, has commenced mobilisation for President Bola Tinubu’s re-election, setting a target of 90 per cent of registered voters in the state for the 2027 presidential election.
Oluyede, who contested the June 20, 2026 Ekiti governorship election on the PDP platform, said his Oluyede Progressive Alliance for Renewed Hope Agenda, OPARHA, would take the campaign to communities across the state as part of efforts to secure overwhelming support for Tinubu.
Punch reports that in a statement made available in Ado Ekiti on Monday after returning from a two-week holiday, the PDP chieftain said he had activated the political structure to begin grassroots mobilisation ahead of the 2027 poll.
He called on members and supporters of the PDP, All Progressives Congress (APC), and other political tendencies who share his vision for a prosperous Ekiti and stronger Nigeria to join the campaign.
Oluyede said supporting Tinubu was, in his view, necessary to ensure continuity in the reforms and development initiatives of the Federal Government.

“I believe President Bola Tinubu deserves a second term. Nigeria cannot continue to start all over again every four years. If we have begun a process of reform, we must allow that process to mature and consolidate,” he said.
He said the mobilisation would cover all 16 local government areas, 177 wards and communities across Ekiti State.
“We are going to the people. We are going to mobilise. OPARHA will take the message to every door, every household, every ward and every community. We will explain why President Tinubu deserves another term and allow our people to make an informed decision,” Oluyede said.
The former PDP governorship candidate described the 90 per cent target as ambitious but achievable, stressing that the campaign would go beyond merely securing votes for Tinubu.
“I want to assure Mr President that we are ready to work with Governor Oyebanji and every stakeholder who believes in the progress of Ekiti and Nigeria. Our target is 90 per cent of the voters registered by the Independent National Electoral Commission in Ekiti State.

“It is a huge target, but it is achievable. We are going to work for it. The target is not merely about winning an election, but about building a political bridge among different groups in Ekiti and strengthening the relationship between the state and federal governments,” he added.
Oluyede also disclosed that he was ready to work with Governor Biodun Oyebanji and other political stakeholders in the state to achieve the objective.
Explaining his recent political engagements, he dismissed speculation that his decision to proceed on holiday after the governorship election meant he had withdrawn from politics.
According to him, the break followed a series of consultations and political engagements and gave him an opportunity to rest after what he described as a demanding election period.
Oluyede said some of his consultations were aimed at bringing politicians from the PDP and APC together, arguing that the development of Nigeria and Ekiti should take precedence over partisan differences.

“During the post-election period, I honoured the fatherly invitation of Mr President, Bola Tinubu. We had a very meaningful discussion, and we both agreed that we must work together towards 2027,” he said.
He stressed that his engagement with Tinubu did not amount to abandoning his political identity, but reflected what he described as a decision to place the national interest above party considerations.
Oluyede also disclosed that he met with Governor Oyebanji, describing their discussion as frank and constructive.
He said both men agreed that political differences should not stand in the way of efforts to advance the interests and development of Ekiti State.
The PDP chieftain said the engagement with Oyebanji was part of a broader effort to build political understanding across party lines as preparations for the 2027 general elections gather momentum.
