LAGOS, Nigeria (VOICE OF NAIJA) – The Remo Stars Stadium in Ikenne-Remo has been chosen to host both legs of Nigeria’s second-round Los Angeles 2028 Olympic qualifying tie against Comoros in October.
The Super Falcons will welcome Comoros on October 9 in the first leg of the crucial encounter.
The return fixture will take place at the same venue four days later, on October 13.
The Nigeria Football Federation confirmed the venue arrangements as preparations begin for the qualifying campaign.
Nigeria are seeking another appearance at the Olympic Games after featuring at the 2024 Paris Olympics.
The Super Falcons are among three highest-ranked teams in the qualifying competition and received a bye into the second round.
Their opponents, Comoros, advanced after securing a remarkable 30-0 aggregate victory over Sudan in the opening round.
The emphatic result underlined Comoros’ attacking strength and earned them a place in the next phase of qualification.
Nigeria will therefore need to remain focused despite entering the contest as favourites based on ranking and experience.
The Falcons will be looking to exploit home advantage in Ikenne and establish control from the opening whistle.
A strong result in the first leg would boost Nigeria’s chances of progressing to the next qualifying round.
The Olympic tournament will be held in Los Angeles in 2028, with Nigeria targeting another appearance on the global stage.
