LAGOS, Nigeria (VOICE OF NAIJA) – Nigeria’s U20 women’s team will approach Monday’s World Cup clash against Spain like a must‑win final, with Head Coach Moses Aduku insisting the Falconets are fully focused on securing three points as they begin their FIFA U20 Women’s World Cup campaign at the Stadion Sosnowiec in Poland.
Aduku made it clear that the Falconets are not merely aiming to compete but targeting victory.
“We are looking forward to the match against Spain with high expectations. We are ready and set to go.
“We will approach the game like a Cup final because we want to win. The three points will put us in good stead,” Aduku said.
Spain arrive with pedigree, having reached the 2018 final and winning the 2022 edition, powered by stars like Patricia Guijarro, who claimed both the Golden Ball and Golden Shoe in France.
Their rise mirrors Nigeria’s own history of defying odds, including the Falconets’ dramatic run to the 2010 final and Asisat Oshoala’s Golden Ball and Golden Shoe heroics in 2014.

But history is only fuel for Aduku’s side.
The Falconets are determined to impose themselves from kickoff, dominate midfield battles, and convert early chances to avoid chasing the game against a technically gifted Spanish team.
Aduku will send out his players with clear instructions: press aggressively, stay compact, and seize every opportunity.
Victory would set the tone ahead of group fixtures against China and New Caledonia later in the week.
