A Delta State court on Friday, September 4, 2026, granted the remand application, ordering that he be taken to the Ogwashi-Uku Maximum Correctional Centre.
The legal counsel to Favour’s family, Awele Ideal, confirmed the development in a social media post, saying Ogbonna had been taken to the correctional centre.
“Today the 4/9/2026, the application to remand Mr Ifeanyi Ogbonna (Odogwu Asaba) was heard and granted by the Court. He has now been remanded at the Ogwashi Uku Maximum Correctional Center,” the lawyer said.

The development came shortly after the autopsy and toxicology results in Favour’s case were made available to the police investigation team.
Ideal said the results, alongside other evidence gathered by investigators, had been added to the report prepared for prosecution and trial.
She explained that Ogbonna would return to court as the case progresses, while the Ministry of Justice, through the Attorney-General and Director of Public Prosecutions, will take charge of the next stage of the prosecution.
Ideal also said she would continue to represent Favour’s family and provide updates as the legal process moves forward.
