LAGOS, Nigeria(VOICE OF NAIJA)- Grammy-winning Nigerian singer Burna Boy has revealed the unexpected role his band, The Outsiders, played in helping his music director Emmanuel Abiola-Jacobs, popularly known as Manny, meet his wife.
The singer made the revelation while speaking at Manny’s wedding over the weekend, where he jokingly suggested that the drummer’s decision to remain in secular music may have changed the course of his love life.
Burna Boy recalled that Manny had once considered leaving secular music to return to gospel music.
He joked that if Manny had followed through with the plan, he might have missed the opportunity to meet his wife.
“It’s the little things that piss me,” Burna Boy said, before turning the attention of the wedding guests to Manny’s love story.
“You all are just eating and drinking. Have you asked them how they met?” Burna Boy asked.

The singer then reminded Manny of his earlier plan to leave secular music.
“Manny, you said you wanted to dump music and go back to Jesus and Christianity,” he stated.
Burna Boy then joked that Manny would have been spending his time in church instead of enjoying the life he has today.
“If you had quit music, would you and your wife have met?” he asked.
He went on to credit himself and The Outsiders for the couple’s union, suggesting that Manny’s continued involvement with the band helped create the circumstances that eventually led to their meeting.
“I have given myself thanks because this wedding would not have happened if you gave up music and went to the church clapping and praising the sky,” Burna Boy said.
The light-hearted speech added a playful moment to Manny’s wedding celebration, with Burna Boy’s speech becoming a humorous reflection on his bandmate’s career and how it unexpectedly brought the newlyweds together.
