LAGOS, Nigeria (VOICE OF NAIJA) – Dominik Szoboszlai delivered a dramatic stoppage-time equalizer as Liverpool snatched a point against Newcastle in their Premier League opener.
The Hungarian midfielder kept his nerve from the spot, hammering a penalty into the roof of the net in the 99th minute after Victor Munoz was brought down inside the box by Lewis Hall.
For much of the evening, it looked as though Matthias Jaissle would mark his first game as Newcastle manager with victory.
Anthony Elanga opened the scoring in the first half, and Joe Willock doubled the advantage after the interval, sending the home crowd into raptures.
Cody Gakpo briefly restored hope for Liverpool with a well-taken equalizer, but Newcastle regained control and seemed destined to secure all three points.

The match carried added poignancy as fans of both clubs united before kick-off to pay tribute to Kevin Keegan, who passed away last month at the age of 75.
