LAGOS, Nigeria(VOICE OF NAIJA)- Veteran Nollywood actor Taiwo Hassan, better known as Ogogo, is currently battling stage 4 cancer, his daughter, Kira Taiwo, has revealed.
The actor’s health became a major concern on Tuesday, August 18, after Kira appealed publicly for help with his treatment, prompting a doctor to offer medical clarification about his condition.
The family’s search for medical assistance was later followed by a viral report claiming that the veteran actor had died.
Kira quickly rejected the report, making it clear that her father was still alive.

The death rumour came shortly after her emotional appeal for medical professionals who could recommend suitable oncologists, treatment centres or other options that could help Ogogo.
She explained that the family was ready to explore “anything” that could help preserve his life and improve his condition.
She also stressed that the family was not seeking financial support but needed recommendations for treatment options and care.
Kira also disclosed that Ogogo had been granted a visa to travel to India for treatment but was currently not medically fit to make the trip.
She appealed to medical professionals and people with useful contacts who could help them find appropriate treatment.
“If you have anyone that can help us please. Senator Adeola Yayi is ready and he’s been the one supporting us financially. All we need is someone that can treat him,” she said.
Amid the growing concern surrounding Ogogo’s health, a Nigerian doctor known on X as The Beared Dr Sina addressed some of the claims circulating online.
The doctor, who clarified that he has no connection to Ogogo’s medical care, said he felt the need to correct what he described as misconceptions arising from Kira’s video.
One of the issues he addressed was the claim that doctors had stopped treating Ogogo.
According to him, when cancer reaches Stage 4, treatment may shift towards palliative care, which focuses on controlling symptoms, reducing suffering and improving the patient’s quality of life.
He described the goal as giving “the person a good quality of life before death,” rather than abandoning the patient.

The doctor also warned against turning to herbal mixtures as a cure for advanced cancer, saying there is no herbal concoction proven to treat Stage 4 cancer and cautioned that some substances could cause additional organ damage or interfere with proper medical care.
He further explained that Stage 4 cancer means the disease has spread from its original location to other parts of the body.
He therefore advised Ogogo’s family to maintain communication with his medical team and follow professional medical guidance.
Ogogo’s current health battle is not the first serious illness he has publicly discussed.
In a previous interview, the veteran actor revealed that he had struggled with chronic ulcer for about seven years.
He described the condition as severe enough to affect his ability to eat normally and said he lost a significant amount of weight during the difficult period.
Ogogo also recalled how the pain became so intense that it caused him severe discomfort.
Despite the serious concerns surrounding his present condition, the actor himself has not publicly addressed the latest reports.
For now, his daughter’s message remains that Ogogo is alive, but the veteran actor is facing a serious health battle.
