ENUGU, Nigeria (VOICE OF NAIJA)- Former Bayelsa East Senator, Ben Murray-Bruce, has urged President Bola Tinubu to bring more people willing to challenge entrenched interests and deliver results into his administration.
Murray-Bruce, while expressing continued support for the Tinubu administration, said such support should not prevent him from offering constructive criticism where necessary.
According to Vanguard, he described the kind of officials he wants the President to appoint as “mad men”, explaining that he meant Nigerians courageous enough to confront a broken system, challenge powerful interests and reject mediocrity.
“Support must never become sycophancy,” Murray-Bruce said, urging Tinubu to listen to voices willing to tell him difficult truths.
According to him, Nigeria needs public officials who are obsessed with delivering results and are prepared to become unpopular when necessary in the national interest.

He cited the Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria, Olayemi Cardoso, and the National Security Adviser, Nuhu Ribadu, as examples of the type of officials he believes Tinubu needs more of.
Murray-Bruce said the CBN under Cardoso had undergone what he described as a serious reset, with greater discipline and credibility in monetary policymaking.
He also praised Ribadu for bringing seriousness, coordination and strategic direction to Nigeria’s security architecture.
However, the former senator said two such officials were not enough for a country of more than 200 million people.
“Mr President, two mad men are not enough for a country of more than 200 million people. We need another one in petroleum. In fact, give us two more,” he said.
Murray-Bruce particularly urged Tinubu to make the rehabilitation and commercially viable operation of the Port Harcourt, Warri and Kaduna refineries a priority.
