LAGOS, Nigeria (VOICE OF NAIJA) – Former Manchester United and Juventus midfielder Paul Pogba will leave AS Monaco FC after an injury-plagued spell with the French club.
Monaco confirmed on Wednesday that the midfielder’s contract, which was due to expire in June 2027, had been terminated.
The club said the objectives set for the 33-year-old were “only partially achieved” during his time at Monaco.
The France International is currently sidelined with a thigh injury after recently recovering from a knee problem.
The midfielder made only six Ligue 1 appearances last season, totaling 115 minutes on the pitch.
Monaco praised Pogba’s determination and professionalism despite his limited playing time throughout the campaign.
The club also highlighted his positive influence on teammates through his experience and knowledge.
Pogba thanked Monaco’s president, management, teammates, staff and supporters for their support during his spell.

The former France international joined Monaco last year after serving an 18-month doping ban.
Pogba initially received a four-year suspension after testing positive for testosterone while playing for Juventus in 2023.
He maintained that the prohibited substance came from a doctor-prescribed food supplement obtained in the United States.
The Court of Arbitration for Sport later reduced his suspension from four years to 18 months.
Pogba returned to football but struggled to regain the form that established him among Europe’s elite midfielders.
He made 233 appearances across two spells at Manchester United and won the 2017 Europa League.
At Juventus, Pogba won four Serie A titles and was named the league’s Player of the Year.
He also played a key role in France’s 2018 World Cup triumph in Russia.
Pogba’s departure leaves his future uncertain as he continues his recovery from another injury setback, although some reports allege that a move to Major League Soccer (MLS) might be on the cards for the World Cup winner.
