LAGOS, Nigeria(VOICE OF NAIJA)- Nollywood actress Funke Etti has shared a disturbing account of an alleged experience with a movie director who promised her a major role in a film.
The actress made the disclosure during an interview with Doyin Kukoyi, where she spoke about an unnamed movie director who she claims tried to pressure her into having sex for a lead role.
According to Funke, she was already on set when the producer informed her that she had been selected for the leading role.
She said the situation changed after the director later asked her to meet him in his room.
Funke explained that she agreed to the meeting because she saw the director as an authority figure and had no reason to expect anything inappropriate.
However, she alleged that the meeting took an unexpected turn when the director tried to make sexual advances towards her.
“He tried to lure me into having sex with him, but I refused,” the actress said.
Funke claimed that rejecting the alleged advance later affected her chances of getting the role.

She revealed that the director went back to the producer after she turned him down and allegedly questioned whether she was suitable for the character.
“Shockingly, after I said no, the director went behind me to tell the producer that I wasn’t perfect for the role – just because I refused him,” Funke alleged.
Her account also comes against the backdrop of similar allegations and personal accounts from other entertainers who have spoken about inappropriate advances and the pressure women can face while seeking opportunities.
Actresses including Bimbo Ademoye and Yemi Alade have previously spoken publicly about experiences involving unwanted advances or attempts by people in positions of influence.
With no names mentioned and no counter attack, Funke’s disclosure adds her voice to a wider conversation about professional boundaries and the working environments within Nollywood.
