ENUGU, Nigeria (VOICE OF NAIJA)- Osun State Governor, Ademola Adeleke, on Wednesday received his Certificate of Return from the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), formally confirming his victory in the August 15 governorship election.
The governor’s Special Assistant on Digital Media, Olalekan Badmus, announced the development in a post on X
The certificate was presented to Adeleke after he secured re-election for a second term, defeating the candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Bola Oyebamiji.Adeleke, who contested the election on the platform of the Accord Party, won in 19 of Osun State’s 30 local government areas, while Oyebamiji secured victory in 11 LGAs.
The electoral victory was formally declared on Sunday following Saturday’s governorship poll.
At the certificate presentation, Adeleke appeared in a celebratory mood, singing and dancing as he received the document from the electoral commission.

The governor had, following his victory, thanked the people of Osun for renewing his mandate and pledged to consolidate his administration’s achievements.
He also promised to address areas where his government had fallen short and ensure that the renewed mandate translated into improved governance across the state.
The re-election gives Adeleke another four-year term in office and extends his tenure as governor beyond his initial term.
His victory came amid a fiercely contested election in which the APC mounted a strong challenge against the incumbent administration.
The Osun election also attracted significant attention from political parties and national figures, with reactions continuing after the poll.
With the Certificate of Return now presented, Adeleke is expected to begin preparations for his second-term administration while his opponents retain the option of pursuing available legal channels to challenge the outcome.
