LAGOS, Nigeria (VOICE OF NAIJA) – South African winger, Thapelo Maseko has completed his move from Mamelodi Sundowns to FC Copenhagen on a four-year contract.
The 22-year-old forward was confirmed as Copenhagen’s latest signing on Tuesday after completing his transfer from the South African champions.
Maseko said former Bafana Bafana star and Copenhagen icon Sibusiso Zuma inspired his decision to join the Danish club.
“I am very proud of this agreement. It is a dream come true,” Maseko said.
He described Copenhagen as a special club with strong international recognition and expressed excitement about joining the team.
Maseko said Zuma had told him positive stories about the club, its supporters and life in Copenhagen.
The winger also promised to bring ambition and determination as he seeks to make an impact at his new club.
“I come here to win, and I am very excited to get out on the pitch,” he added.
Copenhagen have started the Danish Superliga season with three consecutive victories and face Inter Turku in their Conference League playoff.

The two-legged tie is scheduled for August 20 and 27, giving Maseko an early opportunity to feature for his new club.
Maseko spent the second half of last season on loan at AEL Limassol after losing his place at Sundowns.
His spell in Cyprus helped revive his career and earned him a recall to Hugo Broos’ Bafana Bafana squad.
He subsequently impressed during the World Cup campaign, strengthening his reputation on the international stage.
Copenhagen coach Bo Svensson described Maseko as an explosive and dynamic player with strong one-on-one qualities.
Svensson also praised his pace, ability to attack space and willingness to work hard for the team.
“There are naturally still elements to refine, but Thapelo’s potential is high,” Svensson said.
Copenhagen director of football Kristjaan Speakman also welcomed the winger, highlighting his versatility and attacking ability.
Speakman said Maseko can operate on either flank adding that the winger has shown his quality at international level.
The Copenhagen hierarchy expressed satisfaction after winning a competitive race to secure the South African winger’s signature.
