ENUGU, Nigeria (VOICE OF NAIJA)- Rivers State Governor, Siminalayi Fubara, has vowed to continue executing projects that will have lasting impact on residents despite the limited time remaining in his administration.
Fubara spoke on Tuesday during the commissioning of the reconstructed 12.1-kilometre Egwi-Afara-Mba Road in Etche Local Government Area of the state, Channels TV reports.
The governor said the proximity of the end of his tenure would not discourage his administration from addressing pressing developmental needs across the state.
According to him, although he would have preferred to achieve more, governance must remain focused on improving the socio-economic wellbeing of the people for as long as his administration remains in office.
Responding to a request by the Etche Local Government Chairman, Chima Njoku, for improved healthcare infrastructure, Fubara promised to establish a standard medical facility in the area before leaving office.
He said his administration would continue to respond to critical needs rather than abandon projects simply because its remaining time in office was limited.

The governor said the Egwi-Afara-Mba Road project was initiated in November 2024 at a particularly challenging period for his administration.
Fubara explained that the decision to proceed with the reconstruction was based on the conviction that the long-term benefits of the project would matter more than the difficulties surrounding its execution.
He said the completed road would strengthen connectivity within the area, boost economic activities and improve the quality of life of residents.
Fubara expressed confidence in the quality of the road, saying its completion demonstrated the importance of having an administration that understands the needs and aspirations of the people.
The governor also commended the Etche council chairman for his efforts towards improving electricity supply and protecting residents in the area.
The commissioning of the road is part of the administration’s ongoing infrastructure interventions across Rivers State, with Fubara maintaining that projects capable of improving the lives of residents would remain a priority until the end of his tenure.
