LAGOS, Nigeria(VOICE OF NAIJA)- Osun State First Lady, Ngozi Adeleke, has called on eligible voters to participate in the ongoing governorship election, assuring residents that voting was peaceful at her polling unit.
Ngozi made the appeal on Saturday after voting at her polling unit, where she said the exercise had been peaceful and free from intimidation.
She encouraged all residents, including those still at home and those who had been reluctant to vote due to fears of insecurity, to head to their designated polling units and exercise their franchise, describing participation in the election as a civic responsibility.
“As you can see, there’s no intimidation of any kind,” she said.
The governor’s wife also appealed directly to Osun indigenes, saying there had been no fighting or tension at her polling location.
“I’m saying it authoritatively to every Osun indigene that there’s peace, everything is going on peacefully. There’s no rancour, there’s no fight. There’s no intimidation of any kind,” Ngozi stated.
She further urged voters to take advantage of their right to choose their next governor.

“Please, wherever you are, as long as you’re an electorate, please leave your house. Go to your polling unit and vote. That’s your civic right,” the First Lady added.
Her appeal came as voters turned out across Osun State to participate in the governorship election.
Earlier, Governor Ademola Adeleke, who is seeking re-election under the Accord Party platform, cast his ballot at Ward 02, Polling Unit 009, Abogunde Compound, Ede North Local Government Area.
The election is being held across the state’s 30 local government areas, with Adeleke and other candidates seeking the mandate of voters.
Security concerns and allegations of intimidation had featured prominently in the build-up to the election, prompting political stakeholders and civil society groups to call for a peaceful poll.
Notably, security personnel have been deployed to different parts of Osun State to maintain order and support the smooth conduct of voting.
For now, attention is on the completion of the exercise and the eventual announcement of the election result.
