LAGOS, Nigeria(VOICE OF NAIJA)- Afrobeats star David Adeleke, popularly known as Davido, has accused President Bola Tinubu of “killing democracy” over alleged moves to withdraw security personnel from Osun State during the governorship election, while also questioning delays in uploading results.
The singer made the accusation in a post on X while reacting to the conduct of the election and the reported delay in uploading polling-unit results to the Independent National Electoral Commission’s (INEC) Result Viewing Portal, IReV.
“Because we are winning. They want to withdraw the police and military! MR PRESIDENT TINUBU ! UR KILLING DEMOCRACY,” Davido wrote.
The singer’s post came as he expressed support for his uncle, incumbent Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke, who is seeking re-election in the poll.
Earlier, Davido had questioned INEC over the absence of results on the IReV portal several hours into the election.

At about 2:33 p.m. on Saturday, he called on the electoral commission to explain why polling-unit results had yet to appear on the platform.
“INEC, it is now 2:33 p.m., yet no result has been uploaded to the IReV portal. What is the delay? Nigerians deserve transparency and timely updates,” Davido queried.
He also urged Accord Party supporters and other voters to ensure that polling-unit results were properly completed, signed and uploaded to the portal.
“ALERT! It is being reported that some POs are saying they will only input result at the collation center, all accord supporters and voters should ensure the results are filled into the form EC8A, signed and uploaded to the iRev. Insist on your right!!!! Call your staff to orderrrrrrrrrr @inecnigeria Federal might will fail here,” Davido added.
The IReV portal allows members of the public to view polling-unit results electronically, with the system designed to promote transparency in the electoral process.
Davido’s latest comments come amid heightened attention to the conduct of the Osun election, with voters casting ballots across the state to choose their next governor.
