LAGOS, Nigeria (VOICE OF NAIJA) – Nigeria’s U19 men’s cricket team, the Junior Yellow Greens, capped off a dominant campaign at the ICC U19 Men’s Cricket World Cup Africa Division 2 Qualifiers with a resounding 165-run victory over Sierra Leone at the Gahanga B Oval in Kigali, Rwanda.
Batting first, Nigeria posted a commanding total of 311 for nine in 50 overs, showcasing depth and composure across the batting order.
Sierra Leone struggled in response, bowled out for 146 in 45.5 overs, as Nigeria’s bowlers maintained relentless pressure to secure the emphatic win.
The result underlined Nigeria’s consistency throughout the tournament. Earlier, the Junior Yellow Greens delivered one of their biggest wins in recent memory, dismantling Mozambique by 407 runs in a record-breaking performance.
That triumph came after a composed chase against Rwanda, where the Junior Yellow Greens reached 84 for three in just 15.2 overs to claim a seven-wicket victory.
Against Ghana, the team again showed resilience, chasing 93 runs to secure a five-wicket win.
Their only setback came in the opening fixture against Uganda, where Nigeria’s 176-run effort fell short as Uganda chased successfully to win by five wickets.
Despite that early stumble, Nigeria’s response has been emphatic.

With victories over Ghana, Rwanda, Mozambique, and now Sierra Leone, the Junior Yellow Greens have demonstrated both batting firepower and bowling discipline.
The latest win not only silenced Sierra Leone’s challenge but also reinforced Nigeria’s determination to secure a place at the U19 World Cup.
