LAGOS, Nigeria (VOICE OF NAIJA) – Nigeria’s Abdullahi Abdulazeez produced a career-defining performance at the Dynamic Athletics Meet, winning the men’s 110m hurdles in Lagos with a new personal best of 13.89 seconds.
The time marked a significant improvement on his previous best of 13.97 seconds, set earlier at the National Trials, where he broke the 14-second barrier for the first time in his career.
The victory not only gave Abdulazeez the meeting record but also confirmed his rising status among Nigeria’s elite hurdlers.
His ability to shave crucial milliseconds off his time reflects the progress he has made in training and competition this season.
For the young athlete, the achievement represents a breakthrough moment, as he continues to establish himself on the national and continental stage.
Abdulazeez’s success was one of several standout performances at the meet.

In the women’s 400m, Iyanoluwa Aderemi clocked a lifetime best of 50.95 seconds to dominate her heat, smashing her previous mark of 51.86 seconds set at the National Trials.
Her run elevated her to 10th on Nigeria’s all-time list and made her the third-fastest Nigerian this season.
Esther Okon also impressed, setting a new personal best of 51.25 seconds, improving from her previous 52.42 seconds.
Together, the trio of Abdulazeez, Aderemi, and Okon highlights the growing depth of Nigerian athletics, with each athlete demonstrating the ability to rise to new levels of performance.
