ENUGU, Nigeria (VOICE OF NAIJA)- President Bola Tinubu has assured voters in Osun State of adequate security before, during and after Saturday’s governorship election.
The President also urged them to turn out and vote for candidates of their choice without fear or intimidation.
Tinubu gave the assurance on Thursday at the All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship campaign rally in Osogbo, where the party formally presented its candidate, Munirudeen Bola Oyebamiji, ahead of the poll.
The President, who was represented by Senate President Godswill Akpabio, said security agencies had been adequately positioned across the state to maintain peace and protect voters throughout the electoral process.
He urged Osun residents to exercise their franchise freely but advised them to make what he described as a wise choice at the ballot.

“Let me assure all Osun indigenes that adequate security has been provided all over the state to ensure people come out to cast their votes for the candidate of their choice without any fear or intimidation,” Tinubu said.
He also appealed to voters to support the APC candidate, arguing that electing an APC administration would strengthen the relationship between Osun State and the Federal Government.
Tinubu said voters should feel free to participate in the election, stressing that no one would be allowed to intimidate them at polling units.
Speaking at the rally, Akpabio said the crowd recorded at the event demonstrated what he described as the growing popularity of the APC in the state.
He cited the presence of former Osun governor and APC interim National Chairman, Bisi Akande, former National Secretary of the party, Iyiola Omisore, and Senator Fadahunsi as evidence of the party’s growing support ahead of the election.

The Senate President also acknowledged opposition figures who had declared support for Oyebamiji, including former Osun governor and Peoples Democratic Party chieftain, Olagunsoye Oyinlola.
According to him, the endorsements indicated that the APC had continued to attract support beyond its traditional political base.
Akpabio said the party was committed to peaceful politics, noting that the Accord Party leadership in the state had also endorsed the APC candidate.
Meanwhile, the Senate President expressed concern over the poor condition of the road linking Ibadan with Osun State, saying the state deserved better infrastructure.
He charged Oyebamiji, whom he referred to as “AMBO”, to make infrastructure development and improved delivery of democratic dividends priorities if elected.
Vanguard reports that other speakers at the rally called on APC supporters and residents of the state to vote for Oyebamiji during Saturday’s election.
