ENUGU, Nigeria (VOICE OF NAIJA)- Ahead of Saturday’s governorship election, the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has commenced the distribution of sensitive electoral materials across the 30 local government areas of Osun State.
The exercise began at the Central Bank of Nigeria office in Osogbo, the state capital, following the arrival of newly printed ballot papers and result sheets reflecting the addition of the Social Democratic Party to the ballot.
INEC National Commissioner supervising the Osun election, Kunle Ajayi, explained that the distribution was delayed because the newly printed materials arrived from Abuja later than expected.
The commission had earlier included the SDP candidate, Francis Ajala, and his running mate, Faseke Oladipo, in the election after a Federal High Court judgment directed INEC to recognise and publish their particulars.

Channels TV reports that the development has increased the number of political parties participating in the August 15 election to 15.
INEC said the decision to reproduce the ballot papers and result sheets followed the July 22, 2026 judgment of the Federal High Court in Abuja in the case involving the SDP, Ajala and the electoral commission.
The commission had announced that the revised materials would arrive in Osun on Thursday and subsequently be distributed to the various local government offices in line with its established procedures.
With the sensitive materials now being moved across the state, INEC said the exercise is aimed at ensuring that all electoral documents are delivered to their designated locations before voting begins on Saturday.
