LAGOS, Nigeria (VOICE OF NAIJA) – Nigeria has officially unveiled the men’s U18 basketball roster ahead of the FIBA U18 AfroBasket Championship in Côte d’Ivoire.
Led by Coach Michael Ikima, the Junior D’Tigers squad features Idornigie Emmanuel, Ognonna Joshua, Nwafor Victor, and Unekwe Ekene.
The roster also includes Kayode Olakunle, Sunday Victor, John Isiah, Otalulwa Daniel, Okoh Thomas, Aniegbunam Somto, and Aribo Olakunle.
Attah James and Adelagun David complete the lineup, giving Nigeria a balanced mix of size, speed, and skill.
Each player represents the depth of Nigeria’s youth basketball pipeline, combining athleticism and determination to compete against Africa’s best.
The announcement has generated excitement among fans and officials, who see the squad as a reflection of the country’s growing investment in grassroots basketball development.
The U18 women’s team, Junior D’Tigress, will be guided by Coach Akindele Peter.
Their roster includes Igwe Juliet Chizoba, Aladelua Precious Grace, Adelaja Zainab Adeola, Ibidunni Nimah, Alaje Cecilia Sunday, and Owolabi Oluwatobiloba.
Also named are Arowolo Bisola Azizat, Alli Khadijah Kuburah, Lawrence Becky, Abali Anastacia John, Onajomo Ogheneochuko, Pela Edore, and Anari Favour Joy.
The AfroBasket Championship, scheduled to begin on August 5, will provide the Junior D’Tigers and D’Tigress with a platform to showcase their abilities on the continental stage.
