ABUJA, Nigeria (VOICE OF NAIJA)-Nigeria’s foreign exchange reserves recorded their first decline in several days, dropping to $51.96bn on July 27, 2026, from $52.02bn on July 24, 2026, according to figures released by the Central Bank of Nigeria.

The latest data showed that the country’s external reserves fell by about $60m, bringing to an end a four-day run of steady gains.

The decline is the first recorded drop in Nigeria’s foreign reserves since last week, when they stood at $52.02bn.

The development comes amid sustained pressure in the foreign exchange market.

Meanwhile, the naira extended its losses against the United States dollar at the official foreign exchange market on Tuesday.

Data from the CBN showed that the local currency weakened to N1,365.53/$1 from N1,362.21/$1 recorded on Monday.

At the parallel market, the naira traded at N1,410 to the dollar.

The latest figures underscore the continued volatility in Nigeria’s foreign exchange market.
