ABUJA, Nigeria (VOICE OF NAIJA)-President Bola Tinubu’s Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, has dismissed reports that the Minister of Defence, Christopher Musa, is resigning from office.
Onanuga said the minister remains fully committed to his responsibilities and focused on delivering his national security mandate.
In a brief statement posted on his X account, the presidential spokesman said Musa remained dedicated to implementing Nigeria’s defence strategy, noting that the efforts were already yielding results.

According to Onanuga: “General Musa not resigning as defence minister.
“General Christopher Gwabin Musa (Rtd) remains fully focused on his national security mandate, deeply committed to his duties, and completely dedicated to piloting the nation’s defence strategy with results already being seen.”
The clarification followed an earlier denial by Musa, who dismissed claims that he was planning to resign as Defence Minister and threatened legal action against those responsible for spreading the rumour.
He described the report as baseless, insisting he had never discussed resigning from office with anyone.
Musa made the remarks while speaking with State House correspondents after briefing President Tinubu on the country’s security situation at the Presidential Villa in Abuja on Tuesday.
Tinubu appointed the former Chief of Defence Staff as Minister of Defence in December 2025.
He succeeded Mohammed Abubakar, who stepped down from the position a few days earlier.
