LAGOS, Nigeria(VOICE OF NAIJA)- Popular social influencer Sandra Benede has opened up about the unexpected phone call that transformed her future, revealing how a secret US Diversity Visa Lottery application submitted by her uncle led to her relocation to America.
Sandra revealed that she had no idea she had been entered into the US Diversity Visa Lottery until years later, when she was studying at the University of Port Harcourt (UNIPORT).
According to the content creator, she had contacted her uncle, who lives in the United States, hoping he would support her dream of becoming an actress after she sent him a proposal seeking financial assistance.
Instead, the conversation took an unexpected turn.
“I was sleeping when I got a phone call from America. It was my uncle, my dad’s younger brother. I thought he was calling because I had written him a proposal, asking him to support my movie career,” she recalled.

Sandra explained that before relocating from Nigeria years earlier, her uncle had requested her passport details without revealing the reason.
Unknown to her and the rest of the family, he had used the information to register her for the US Diversity Visa Lottery.
She also remembered being puzzled when her uncle asked her to sing her favourite gospel song during the call before delivering the life-changing news.
“He said, ‘Do you have a favourite song?’ I sang I Can See Everything Turning Around in My Favour. Then he said, ‘Indeed, God has turned your story around. You won a visa lottery. That means you’re coming to America.’ I was so excited and happy,” she said.
The influencer disclosed that winning the lottery eventually paved the way for her relocation to the United States, where she now resides.
She described the unexpected opportunity as a remarkable example of how a single phone call completely changed the course of her life.
