ENUGU, Nigeria (VOICE OF NAIJA)- Tributes continued to pour in for the presidential candidate of the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC), Peter Obi, on Sunday as Nigerian Ambassador-designate to Mexico, Reno Omokri, and veteran entertainer Charles Oputa, popularly known as Charly Boy, celebrated his 65th birthday with glowing messages.
Obi, a former governor of Anambra State, marked his 65th birthday on Sunday amid goodwill messages from political allies, supporters and admirers across the country.
In a message shared on his X account, Omokri prayed for God’s continued protection, good health and wisdom for the former presidential candidate while acknowledging his contributions to Nigeria’s democratic process.
He said Obi’s active participation in politics had encouraged greater civic awareness among many Nigerians and inspired his supporters to become more engaged in democratic governance.
Omokri, who has often been one of Obi’s vocal critics on social media, nevertheless commended the NDC presidential candidate for stimulating political participation and strengthening public interest in national affairs.
“By remaining active in the political process, you have helped sharpen the democratic consciousness of your followers and encouraged greater participation in Nigeria’s civic life. For that, you deserve commendation,” he stated while wishing Obi a happy birthday.

The former presidential aide also prayed for many more years of good health and fulfilment for the former Anambra governor.
Charly Boy, on his part, described Obi as one of the few Nigerian political leaders who continues to inspire hope among citizens despite the country’s challenges.
In a series of posts on his X page, the entertainer prayed for greater strength, courage and resilience for Obi as he continues his political journey.
He said Nigeria still needed leaders willing to speak truth to power without fear or compromise.
Charly Boy further applauded Obi for giving millions of Nigerians, particularly young people, renewed confidence that meaningful leadership and national transformation remain possible.
According to him, inspiring hope in a society where many citizens have become disillusioned with political leadership is a remarkable achievement worthy of celebration.
The birthday messages add to the growing list of tributes received by Obi from political associates, public figures and supporters as he celebrated his milestone birthday.
