LAGOS, Nigeria(VOICE OF NAIJA)- Nigerian music star Tems has reached another career milestone after becoming the first female African artist to earn a Diamond-certified single in the United States through her hit collaboration with Future and Drake.
The historic achievement comes through “Wait For U,” her collaboration with American rap stars Future and Drake, which has now been awarded Diamond certification by the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA).
The prestigious certification is given to songs that have sold more than 10 million units in the United States. She has also surpassed 20.5M certified units across all credits in the country.

According to music analytics platform Chart Data, Wait For U has already surpassed that milestone, recording more than 11 million units sold.
Sharing the update on X, the platform wrote,
“US Certifications (@RIAA): Future (@1future) Feat. @Drake & @temsbaby, WAIT FOR U 11x Platinum (11,000,000).”

With the Diamond certification, Tems also joins fellow Nigerian superstar Wizkid as one of only two African artists to earn the prestigious RIAA Diamond recognition.
Wizkid became the first African recipient through his collaboration with Drake on the global smash hit “One Dance.”
The latest milestone further strengthens Tems growing international profile, adding another landmark achievement to a career that has continued to break barriers for African artists on the global stage.
