ENUGU, Nigeria (VOICE OF NAIJA)- Former Attorney-General of the Federation and Minister of Justice, Abubakar Malami (SAN), has appealed the Federal High Court judgment ordering the forfeiture of properties linked to him, insisting he remains confident that the appellate court will overturn the decision.
Malami, through his media aide, Bello Doka, on Friday said he disagreed with aspects of the judgment but remained committed to the rule of law and the independence of the judiciary, stressing that he had directed his legal team to immediately file an appeal.
According to the statement, the judgment does not represent the final determination of the case, noting that the appellate process exists to ensure all legal issues are fully examined.
“The appellate process exists to ensure that every legal issue is thoroughly examined, and Mr. Malami is confident that justice will ultimately prevail,” the statement said.

The former justice minister urged the public and the media to refrain from drawing premature conclusions while the appeal is pending, emphasising that respect for due process remains the bedrock of every democratic society.
He also thanked the people of Kebbi State and Nigerians for their prayers, goodwill and continued support, assuring them that the development would not distract him from his commitment to public service.
According to Doka, Malami remains focused on his vision of promoting a peaceful, secure and prosperous Kebbi State despite the ongoing legal battle.
He further appealed to his supporters to remain calm, peaceful and law-abiding while allowing the courts to determine the matter in accordance with the law.
