LAGOS, Nigeria(VOICE OF NAIJA)- Nigerian comedian and actor Chibunna Stanley, popularly known as Funnybone, has explained why he keeps his wife and children away from social media, while outlining the changes he believes are needed to take Nigeria’s comedy industry to a global audience.
During a recent appearance on The Morayo Show, the entertainer confirmed that he is married and has two children.
Despite being a public figure, he said he has chosen not to make his family part of his online presence.
According to Funnybone, the decision is driven by the realities of social media and his desire to separate his public image from his private life.
“In a world where people are just there to look at what is not looking at them, it is safer for you to keep your personal life private. Outside and on the stage, I am Funnybone, but at home, I am Chibunna,” he stated.
Funnybone also spoke about the future of Nigeria’s comedy industry, expressing optimism that local comedians can achieve greater international recognition over the next decade.

He said reaching that goal would require major improvements in how comedy is produced, presented, and promoted.
“We are hoping to export our crafts to the world, globally. And for that to happen, the ecosystem needs to change. So we need to change our approach to the production, packaging and marketing of comedy in Nigeria,” Funnybone explained.
Looking ahead, Funnybone believes Nigeria’s comedy scene has the talent to compete on the global stage, provided the industry embraces better structures that can help showcase its creativity to wider audiences.
