LAGOS, Nigeria(VOICE OF NAIJA)- Claims that Nigerian singer Bella Shmurda lost $4 million in a Lagos real estate scam have been dismissed as false, with a source close to the artiste confirming that the viral video being circulated is from 2023 and unrelated to any property transaction.

The video, which resurfaced on Tuesday, showed the Afrobeats star during an emotional Instagram Live session.

However, its caption claimed he had broken down in tears after allegedly paying $4 million for a mansion, only to discover that the seller was not the property’s rightful owner.

The misleading post further quoted the singer as saying, “Nigeria. I need your help. I’m not doing well right now. I spent $4 million of my own hard-earned money. Only to discover that I acquired stolen items. And suddenly the seller has vanished.”

The claim quickly spread across social media, leaving many fans worried about the singer’s well-being and financial situation.

However, a source close to Bella Shmurda’s management in a statement to P.M News has dismissed the story, describing it as false and misleading.

According to the report, the video being circulated is not recent and has no connection to any real estate transaction.

The source explained that it was originally recorded in 2023 during an Instagram Live session following the death of fellow singer Mohbad and taken out of context.

“This is fake news. We are not sure where the agenda came from. That video is from 2023,” the source said.

The insider did not indicate whether Bella Shmurda’s team plans to pursue legal action against those responsible for spreading the false claim.

Bella Shmurda had also not issued any public statement on the matter at the time of filing this report.

The clarification has, however, helped dispel the viral rumour, reminding fans to verify social media claims.
