LAGOS, Nigeria (VOICE OF NAIJA) – FIFA has announced that the winners of the 2026 FIFA World Cup will receive championship rings for the first time in the tournament’s history.
The new initiative, inspired by championship traditions in North American sports such as the National Basketball Association (NBA) and National Football League (NFL), will see 30 custom-designed rings presented to members of the victorious team in addition to the FIFA World Cup trophy and winners’ medals.
In a statement released on the official FIFA website, the organization revealed that each ring will be part of a strictly limited edition of just 2,026 individually numbered pieces which is a direct tribute to the tournament itself.
FIFA stated that immediately after the final, the captain and head coach of the winning team will receive temporary rings to commemorate the occasion.
30 rings alongside their certificates of authenticity will then be presented to the victorious team at a later date while 1,996 will be made available to fans worldwide allowing supporters to own a unique piece of FIFA World Cup 2026 history.

One side of the ring proudly features the FIFA World Cup trophy, while the other will be customised to reflect the identity of the winning team.
The 2026 FIFA World Cup final where defending champions Argentina will face Spain will mark the debut of the championship ring tradition, adding another unique feature to the expanded global tournament.
