LAGOS, Nigeria(VOICE OF NAIJA)- Veteran Nollywood actor Yinka Quadri has been inducted as a Special Marshal of the Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA), taking on a new public service role aimed at encouraging safer driving habits across Lagos.
The induction ceremony was held on July 14 at the agency’s headquarters in Oshodi, Lagos, where LASTMA General Manager, Olalekan Bakare-Oki, officially decorated the veteran actor and presented him with his Special Marshal kit.
Marking the start of a new civic responsibility, the Special Marshal initiative was created to involve influential personalities, including entertainers, community leaders and other respected public figures, in supporting traffic management across Lagos.
Instead of focusing only on enforcement, the programme encourages ambassadors to use their public influence to inspire motorists and residents to obey traffic rules and adopt safer road habits.

With a successful acting career that has spanned several decades, Yinka Quadri is widely regarded as one of the most respected figures in the Yoruba film industry.
His appointment is expected to strengthen public awareness campaigns on road safety while encouraging greater compliance with traffic regulations across the state.
Meanwhile, the induction forms part of LASTMA’s wider effort under the leadership of Olalekan Bakare-Oki to build stronger partnerships with residents.
The agency believes that managing traffic effectively in a busy city like Lagos requires more than issuing penalties, stressing that lasting improvements depend on active public participation.
The Special Marshal and Special Traffic Mayor programmes remain central to that strategy, providing respected members of society with a platform to promote civic responsibility, traffic discipline and safer roads.
