ENUGU, Nigeria (VOICE OF NAIJA)- Oyo State Governor, Seyi Makinde, has pledged to honour the civilians and military personnel who lost their lives during the rescue operation that secured the freedom of abducted pupils and teachers from Oriire Local Government Area, saying their sacrifices would never be forgotten.

The governor also assured that the state government would provide the necessary medical care and other forms of support to ensure the victims make a full recovery before reuniting them with their families.

Makinde gave the assurance on Saturday after visiting the rescued victims receiving treatment at a military medical facility in Ibadan.

In a post on his verified X handle, the governor expressed joy over the successful rescue while reaffirming his administration’s commitment to the welfare of those affected by the abduction.

“Earlier today, we visited the victims of the Oriire LGA kidnapping incident where they are receiving treatment in Ibadan,” he wrote.

According to him, the government will continue to provide every assistance required for the victims’ rehabilitation and safe return to their loved ones.

Makinde also paid tribute to the civilians and security personnel who died during the rescue mission, describing them as heroes whose courage and sacrifice contributed to the successful operation.

“We also remember civilians and military personnel who lost their lives during this process. Our administration will ensure that they did not die in vain,” the governor stated.

He prayed for the repose of the deceased and asked God to grant strength and comfort to their grieving families.

The governor’s visit came a day after security forces successfully rescued the kidnapped pupils and teachers, bringing an end to an operation that had attracted widespread concern across Oyo State and beyond.
