LAGOS, Nigeria(VOICE OF NAIJA)- Content creator Ademola Abiodun, popularly known as DJ Chicken, has been remanded at the Kirikiri Correctional Centre after pleading not guilty to alleged death threat charges involving Seyi Tinubu, the son of President Bola Tinubu with the Lagos court granting him N1 million bail pending the fulfilment of conditions.
DJ Chicken was brought before Magistrate M.F. Onamusi at the Ogba Magistrate’s Court in Lagos on Friday, where he faced a three-count charge involving alleged threat to kill, conduct likely to cause a breach of peace and offenses under the Cybercrime Act.
The prosecution told the court that the charges followed a video the content creator shared on social media last week while discussing the 2027 presidential election.
Prosecutors stated some statements made in the video were interpreted as threats against Seyi Tinubu.
The first charge accused DJ Chicken of posting a video allegedly containing a threat to kill Seyi Tinubu, an offence said to contravene Section 232 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015.
The second count alleged that he transmitted a grossly offensive and menacing message through a computer network, contrary to Section 24 of the Cybercrime (Prohibition, Prevention, etc.) Act, 2015.
The third charge accused him of engaging in conduct likely to cause a breach of peace and intimidate or embarrass Seyi Tinubu under Section 168(d) of the Lagos State Criminal Law.

However, following public criticism over the video, DJ Chicken released another clip withdrawing his comments.
He described the statement as a joke meant to attract attention and insisted that he had no intention of harming Seyi Tinubu.
Despite the clarification, the Lagos State Government proceeded with the case, and DJ Chicken pleaded not guilty to all three charges.
Following his plea, Magistrate Onamusi granted him bail of N1 million with two sureties in like sum, stating that one of the sureties must also be a blood relation of the defendant.
The court ordered that one surety must be a government employee, while the other must be a recognized community leader with landed property in Lagos State.
The court also directed both sureties to provide documents including three years tax clearance, Lagos State Residents Registration Agency (LASRRA) identification, National Identification Number (NIN), and recent utility bills.
Until DJ Chicken completes the bail requirements, he has been ordered to remain at the Kirikiri Correctional Centre.
Notably, the judge also ruled that the case be adjourned until August 3, 2026, for further proceedings.
