LAGOS, Nigeria(VOICE OF NAIJA)- Afrobeats star Tekno has opened up on the impact of the 2020 COVID-19 pandemic on modern relationships, claiming that the lockdown exposed cracks in many partnerships while changing how people experience love.

The singer made the remarks during a recent interview with Cool FM Nigeria, where he reflected on how the 2020 lockdown affected couples around the world.

The “Slim Daddy” crooner said spending extended periods together during the lockdown made some people realize they were not as emotionally connected to their partners as they initially believed.

“I think since after 2020, love is not the same. During COVID, people got to spend time with their loved ones and realized maybe they didn’t really love the person as much as they thought,” he said.

Tekno explained that the constant closeness during the lockdown also changed the way some couples experienced relationships, as people no longer had the chance to miss each other or appreciate their time apart.

He further noted that the shift has contributed to changing attitudes toward commitment, with fewer people appearing interested in marriage compared to previous years.

The singer also pointed to the increasing number of public relationship breakdowns, stating that celebrities and influential figures have also experienced challenges in their personal lives.

The “Pana” crooner argued that the entertainment industry has also changed, claiming that love-themed stories and songs are no longer as common as they once were.

“That’s why I’m asking the question, where did love go? There was a time when love was real. Even our movies revolved around love. Now it’s mostly about clout and influencing. It doesn’t feel organic anymore,” Tekno added.
