LAGOS, Nigeria(VOICE OF NAIJA)- Nollywood actress Eniola Badmus has opened up about the emotional struggles behind her dramatic weight loss, revealing that her transformation from 170kg to 83kg has been met with continued online criticism despite years of hard work.

The actress, who has become one of the most talked-about figures in Nigeria’s entertainment industry following her physical transformation, revealed that she reduced her weight from 170kg to 83kg after years of commitment, discipline and lifestyle changes.

Yet, Badmus said the achievement has not stopped critics from making hurtful comments about her appearance.

Taking to Instagram with pictures of her new and former self, the movie star described her transformation as one of the hardest experiences of her life, stressing that the change was achieved through years of sacrifice rather than a quick fix.

“Five years ago, I weighed 170KG. Today, in 2026, I weigh 83KG. That didn’t happen overnight. It took years of discipline, sacrifice, pain, consistency, tears, setbacks, and choosing my health every single day,” she wrote.

Badmus explained that while she is proud of her progress, she struggles to understand why some people continue to criticize her body.

According to her, those who once mocked her for being plus-sized now have issues with her slimmer appearance.

“The same people are still body-shaming me,” she said, questioning what more people expect from her after achieving such a major health milestone.

The actress noted that major weight loss naturally comes with physical changes, including changes to the skin, adding that she continues to care for herself through healthy habits and collagen treatments while allowing her body to adjust.

Badmus also revealed that although she does not always respond to online insults, the comments still affect her emotionally.

“Just because I don’t respond to the insults doesn’t mean they don’t hurt. It doesn’t mean I’m weak. It doesn’t mean I don’t have feelings. I’m human,” she revealed.

The actress expressed concern that many of the negative comments directed at her come from women.

She therefore questioned why support among women often disappears when someone is working to improve their life.

Badmus then urged people to be more compassionate, noting that nobody deserves to be criticized or bullied because of their body size, whether they are gaining weight or working towards a healthier lifestyle.

“I’ve done something remarkable. Going from 170KG to 83KG isn’t a small achievement,” Badmus added.
