LAGOS, Nigeria (VOICE OF NAIJA) – With a World Cup ticket at stake, Nigeria U17 women’s team, the Flamingos are set to trade tackles with hosts Benin Republic in the second leg of their 2026 FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup final round qualifying fixture on Saturday, July 11 in Lome.
Akeem Busari’s Flamingos who are going into the game with a 3-2 lead from the first leg will face the Young Amazons at the Stade de Kegue.
The winner on aggregate will qualify for the 2026 FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup slated for Morocco from 17 October to 7 November 2026.

Seven other countries alongside Nigeria’s Flamingos will be fighting for the four spots up for grabs as Africa’s representatives will be decided following the return legs of the third and final qualifying round.
Ghana v Senegal
- First leg: Senegal 1-1 Ghana
- Second leg: Saturday, 11 July
Everything remains to play for after the sides shared a 1-1 draw in the opening leg.
Ghana’s Black Maidens will look to capitalise on home advantage after earning an important away draw in Dakar, while Senegal travel to Accra confident they can complete the job and secure a place at the global finals.
Kenya v South Africa

- Second leg: Sunday, 12 July
Kenya produced one of the standout results of the qualifying campaign by defeating South Africa 2-0 away from home.
The Junior Starlets were clinical away from home to establish a commanding advantage and now stand within touching distance of qualification for Morocco.
South Africa, meanwhile, face the difficult task of overturning a two-goal deficit away from home if they are to keep their World Cup hopes alive.
Zambia v Ethiopia
- First leg: Zambia 2-1 Ethiopia
- Second leg: Sunday, 12 July
Zambia will take a narrow one-goal lead into the decisive return leg after defeating Ethiopia 2-1 in the first meeting.
The Copper Princesses hold the advantage, but Ethiopia remain firmly in contention after scoring an important away goal. A one-goal victory would be enough to swing the tie in their favour, ensuring another fiercely contested encounter.
The four aggregate winners will qualify for the FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup Morocco 2026, joining the host nation at the tournament later this year.
