LAGOS, Nigeria (VOICE OF NAIJA) – Nigeria tennis sensation Oluwaseun Ogunsakin has etched his name into the history books after reaching the semifinals of the boys’ doubles event at the Wimbledon Junior Championships.
17-year-old Ogunsakin who teamed up with Botswana’s Ntungamili Raguin, produced an impressive performance to defeat the sixth-seeded pair of Japan’s Ryo Tabata and France’s Yannick Alexandrescou in straight sets, winning 6-4, 7-6(4).
The victory secures a place in the semifinals of one of the most prestigious junior tennis tournaments in the world, marking a significant milestone in Ogunsakin’s career and further highlighting his growing reputation on the international stage.
The Nigerian-Botswanan duo who edged American’s Safir Azam and Vihaan Reddy to set up the quarterfinals clash displayed composure and resilience throughout the contest, taking the opening set before holding their nerve in a tightly contested second-set tiebreak to complete the upset over the highly-rated sixth seeds.
